Prayers for dispelling the plague feat. DJ
2021. 2.27 Sat. 17:00 - 18:00 JST *LIVE Streaming is over.
You can see the recorded video from the YouTube link above.
The COVID-19 has directly hit the entertainment industry and the food and beverage industry. To keep the lights of music, food, and culture burning, along with freedom of activity in the real world, which have been hit hard by the second emergency declaration in Japan.
We will hold a unique prayer festival to pray for the cessation of the infection and the restoration and recovery of culture by overlapping the two "Prlay": the "PRAY" of the monks and the "PLAY" of the DJs.
By stimulating the five senses of hearing, sight, taste, touch, and smell, and by connecting performers and viewers across time and space, we will elevate each "play" to the heavens!

Goma / Shōmyō
Since ancient times, Goma practice has been performed mainly in esoteric Buddhism to pray for peace reigns in the land and fulfillment of one's heart's desire. Fire will be ignited in the furnace, and the offerings are thrown in and will be burned purified by flames to deliver prayers to the Buddha and hope for the fulfillment of one's heart's desire.
Moreover, a Buddhist monk will perform Shōmyō as well. Shōmyō is Buddhist vocal music with the chanting of sutras. The melody and the vocal techniques of Shōmyō have a significant influence on forming later Japanese music. Hence, it is also highly regarded for its history and musicality.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC / DJ
In ordinary Buddhist Goma, Shakujo is used as a musical tool to deliver prayers to the Buddha, but this time, we will try to update it to a modern version of expression and collaborate with DJ's electronic music.
Please enjoy the collaboration of prayers and performances of Goma and Shōmyō (chanting) by Showa, the abbot of Naritasan-Ennoji Temple, and music partially newly created for this event by ENA, a DJ and trackmaker.

METAGRAPHY
As a visual stimulus, artist Utabi Hirokawa will attempt to "visualize prayer." He measures the brain waves of the priest Showa as he prays. The brain wave data will be connected to visuals according to algorithms and outputted.
The brain movements are regarding as a kind of "performance," and "graphic score of the brain = metagraphy" is drawn.

TASTE / 味覚
Yakuzen Sake Set + Special Offering
We have prepared a particular Japanese sake and Chinese medical jam with incense set so that you can experience the senses of taste, touch, and smell that cannot deliver online. Sake has been used in various rituals since ancient times, as it is considered to be pure and close to the realm of the gods.
For this event, Sake Innovator Marie Chiba of Gem by Moto has specially selected Sake and we will try pairing it with medicinal jams supervised by the up-and-coming young chef, Kan Morieda. With original rice crackers by copying the metagraphy projected during the actual prayer, It is prayed for in a ceremony as an offering to Buddha.
Also included will be incense from the Yamada Matsu Incenses-wood shop, which uses typical raw materials with strong antibacterial and air-cleaning properties, and which is meant to ward off bad luck.
